In observance of Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday), the pantry will be closed on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Pantry visitors whose return date was March 28 may come on Tuesday, March 26 during regular hours (10 am – 12 pm) to receive their monthly distribution – or the following week. 

 

 

About the Homer Food Pantry

The pantry serves the residents of Homer, New York and the surrounding communities of the Homer School District.  The pantry is supported by Homer First United Methodist Church, Homer Congregational Church, and the greater Homer community. 

Monthly Food Distribution

Individuals are welcome to access the pantry once a month to receive a generous distribution of food.  Amounts vary depending on number in household.  Items include hot/cold cereal, canned vegetables and fruits, pasta/pasta sauce, beans, rice, peanut butter, jelly, soups, frozen meats, eggs, cheese, margarine, bread, desserts, and toilet paper.  A different personal care item (such as laundry detergent or shampoo) is distributed each month.  Additional items and fresh produce/dairy as available.

Hours

Every Tuesday from 10 am – 12 pm

Every Thursday from 5 – 7 pm

If the Homer school district closes schools due to inclement weather in winter, the pantry will also be closed that day.

Location

The pantry is located in the basement of the Homer First United Methodist Church, 16 Cayuga Street, on The Green in Homer, NY.  

From Main Street, turn onto Central Park Place and drive past elementary school and Homer Congregational Church.  Parking and entrance are in the rear of church. 

Please do not enter from Cayuga Street.  It is a one-way road; you will exit onto Cayuga. 

Transportation Assistance

The pantry is not able to deliver items to you.  However, transportation assistance to the pantry can be arranged through Seven Valley Health Coalition’s Way2Go Cortland program.  Call 607-756-4198 to arrange transportation.  Please give 48 hours notice.
